The Olympics would have meant all of the above to Chicago, but the Windy City laments that the economic misfortune that the Olympics would have been will instead be Rio's problem.
All the people from around the world travelling to Chicago wouldn't offset those costs? I thought it would have helped Chicago.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that the Olympics do not profit the host. An incredible amount of money goes into building and preparing facilities. You have every city employee on overtime. Etc.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, some people--especially those with certain connections--must certainly profit (and handsomely). However, the average Joe isn't going to gain jack squat.
